Our Story
To quote a well-known meerkat from The Lion King (or Shakespeare if you prefer),
Oh, what's in a name?
What is QED, and where did it come from?
The origins of QED trace back to Tyler’s college years, although it actually predates that by…well, a few millennia. QED stands for quod erat demonstrandum, which loosely translates to “that which has been demonstrated.” It’s often used at the end of a mathematical proof to indicate that the assertion has been proven.
To us, QED signifies that we will deliver on our promises. It embodies trustworthiness, transparency, and expertise—think of it as a bit of a mic drop in the world of finance.
Tyler’s background in mathematics naturally led him to finance. He approaches solving clients’ financial challenges much like he tackled those long, intricate proofs in college—methodically and with a focus on achieving the best possible outcomes. Although, he has since traded late night “study sessions” for a more respectable timeline.
When you work with QED, you’re partnering with a planner dedicated to becoming one of the most knowledgeable in the country. Tyler is a lifelong learner, holding specialty designations as a Certified Financial Planner®, Chartered Financial Consultant®, Chartered Life Underwriter®, Retirement Income Certified Planner®, Certified in Long-Term Care®, and Financial Services Certified Professional®. (Yes, it’s a mouthful, and we occasionally mix up the letters too!) These certifications represent over 75 credit hours of college and graduate-level courses, 27 proctored exams, and countless hours of dedicated study. Tyler is committed to mastering complex concepts to provide the highest possible value to his clients.
After years of dreaming about launching his own firm, QED officially opened its doors in January 2023. Since then, we’ve experienced remarkable growth, thanks to our expertise in retirement planning, transparent compensation model, and exceptional client experience.
